    Default Christmas Gift

    Hey Everybody

My wife has decided to surprise me with the new improved Gifkins Jig for Christmas.

Now she is trying to decide whether to get me the A10 or A20. What do you guys and gals recommend? I will be building mostly small jewlery boxes but don't want to cut myself short. I know I can always get the other templates later. Will the A20 do the same size as the A10 only larger also?

Thanks for any help. She is so excited about getting me this.

    Gene

Before you make the purchase, I would also consider the Incra Fence System and also the Jointech as alternatives. You get a template per say and you would have to use a router table, but it mat be worth the investment.

I have just started making lots of sawdust with my Gifkins.
For what it may be worth, I went with the A10. I liked the spacing relative to the size of the pins/tails, however I will purchase next time round, the H10. Additional reasons for the A10 over the A20 was the dimensions of the stock I see myself using mostly seem to be most suited to the A10 as far as appearance and spacing went. I am sure there are others who will have other opinions, equally valid as mine.
There is no size difference between the A10/A20, H10/20 etc, the cutters are the same size for each template. The difference is in the spacing of the pins centreline to centreline.
I have the Incra system as well and I think it will be a long time before I use the Incra templates to make joints again. just because I have a new toy and think the Gifkins produces a better joint. Having said that, each has its limitations and there are thinks that each cannot do.
