Default Coastal Banksia & Silver Ash

    Hi all,

I purchased a box lid & base at the Melany Wood Expo some years back but only recently found some more Coastal Banksia to do the liner. Most bits that I have picked up after storms have always been full of borer. the Silver Ash is a good contrast I usually use it for box liners.

Pretty special figure in the Coast Banksia. I managed to snaffle some when the tree next door was cut down. It dried much better than I expected, and came up beautifully.

beaut grain I used bottle brush and was surprised with the grain very similar ,however it has to be treated with respect in that it has a tendency to bend and twist.

That Coastal Banksia looks pretty special. Is it very common?

Widely used for sand rejuvenation after the sand mining went through back in the 60' & 70's. decays very quickly if left on the ground. The couple of millable bits I have collected have produced very small amount of useable wood. I have pondered if getting setup to vacuum seal some with resin would stabilize it? If you see any for sale at a woodie event I'd grab it.
