Now I know what my next box project will be. Great work, Alex, and a great save too.
I've really enjoyed reading this thread and, as usual, will leave knowing much more than I did before.
Thanks for taking the time to present this WIP Alex.
(I just re-read the whole thread to make sure I hadn't missed anything.)... Steve

The jewellery chest is complete at last. After the last coat of oil, I replaced the temporary steel screws (thanks, Dengue) with brass ones. It's worth noting that any fine adjustment to the lid position may be made by drilling the last screw holes slightly off centre. I cleaned up the velvet by wiping with the sticky surface of some masking tape. The last thing I do is write a bit of information about the types of timber, to go with the box.
Thanks for all the kind words, I hope you've all enjoyed the journey.

Beautiful. Another stunning box.
And another lesson - "I cleaned up the velvet by wiping with the sticky surface of some masking tape."
I often spend ages picking spots from felt box linings. Not any more.... Steve

John I don't think that would be to hard I found this
Now dovetailing a cooped curved lid and sides might slow some down its got my head in a spin only because I kept adding it to hidden 45 deg that you mentioned

Sometimes I get a little distracted and thus one of these times. You had finished this and I forgotten about it. I am always eager to see what you come up with.
