A couple of Art Deco Boxes
Here are a couple of Art Deco style boxes that have been made from recycled timber. The Australian Cedar Box with the Banksia Nut insert was made from an old Red Cedar bedhead while the Red Gum box with the swirl lid was made from an old dining room table.
The boxes are lined with pig skin suede and have been finished with numerous coats of WOP.
The Banksia Nut was sliced radially and turned and fitted into a black acrylic ring before inserting in the lid using a good quality epoxy.

The boxes measure approx. 250mm x 160mm 90 mm high.

Fine work Ruddy, well done.I particularly like the elegant transition from the curved lid to the straight front and sides.
Kind regards,Redbog (Harry).

They look great and as usual, not a usual design to add some complexity. Love the colour of the pigskin as a contrast to the timber.
Is the suede something that is readily available?Dallas

Hi Ruddy,
Just seen your post with the art deco boxes. These are really beautiful. It’s great to see boxes that are a bit out of the ordinary. Thanks for sharing.

Give them a ring, I have always found them great to deal with and they have a great range of other types of leather. And my head I'd be a scratchin'

I envy ability. At me it has turned out disgustingly. It is a shame to show.
