Curved Box
This box was inspired by Art Deco design and is the second in a series. I had some thinly sawn WA She Oak (about 2 mm thick) left from a previous project that proved perfect for laminating for the curved sides. After wrapping the cut to size bits in a wet towel they were then microwaved until steam was created and the veneers were flexible enough to glue and clamp in the prepared former (photo #1). The rest of the box is in Jacaranda with the ends cut from a square block, painted black and the textured with a round burr in a rotary tool and the lift out lid shaped with a sanding disc. Comments and critique welcome.

Hi kcam, I sure do like that curving, a real neat feature. I haven't tried any 'steaming' but its on my to-do list now. thanks for posting.
