Default Custom made brass catches for my latest box

I thought I would show of these catches as the did work so well

Made these catches (a left and a right hand) to hold the draw close as well as the lid .There lock into the lock position with solid click and do not fall open and there is a small pin that they rest on when open so as not to foul the draw when open.

Very clever design I've tackled a couple of bits of brasswork myself but I wouldn't be game to show it so well magnified here

    Very smart rusel.

You have put a lot of features in a little catch.

What did you use to polish it? Did you use any lacquer over it to protect the finish?

Polished it with a bench grinder with a coarse mop then a fine mop.
I will put some wax on to protected the polish. Got the same wax that is used in museums to stop tarnishing. It is meant to last 12 month or more and easily recoated. unlike lacquer

Thank for the thought, but really just a lot of staring at a blank box front, till it all fitted together in ones head. Then 20 minutes later job done, that was quick....not....

    Default Recessed handle now fitted

The son thought that a recessed handle would be good so that if something were to stack on top it would sit flat. so why not....
All made from brass the handle is 6mm bar turned ends to a 3 mm pins on for the 2mm sheet arms to fit over and solder together, the supports are from 1.2mm sheet and black epoxied in. The hinges pins are 3mm.
The final coat of PU has been done just some protective wax for the brass and it all over.....

I've taken 20 minutes just to admire it in the pic!
Lovely work Rusel, I've been trying to peak inside the drawers, is it an artist's box?
