    Default Cutting lids by hand

For various reasons I want to cut the lids off boxes by hand. I use a Japanese saw. Invariable I cut the lid crooked. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can make sure I cut the lid off straight?

Hi Charles, i have gone down the same route and cut a few lids with the dozuki, the triton saw table and router table arent up to the job, i have the upspiral router bit but it would perform better on a flat table with square fence which is still on my to do list so i tried the dozuki, i marked a line around the box and scribed it with a stanley knife , the dozuki has a .2mm kerf and sits in the groove and worked from the corners in, was happy with the results and then sanded the mating edges on 120 then 400 glued to an offcut, holding the lid and base like a hand plane , see photos, they mated well but my recent boxes have been flip lid style ,no cutting required, its at least a quiet solution, Rossco
