A Damn Yankee Hell Box.
To try and honor the request of a friend from this board (Dave TTC), I'm trying to gather up some photos of my work to share with all of you.
Right now the only thing I have to show you guys for a box is this video. Its made from Curly Maple, Walnut, Hard Maple, and Florida Rosewood. The Rosewood sections are actually pieces of fret board that is usually used to make guitar necks.
I made mine to keep a hand gun safe from young children. Here in the U.S. we can still own personal firearms and where I live we must secure them to prevent kids getting them and being hurt or killed. My kids are all grown and have kids of their own. So when the Grand kids come over, my gun gets locked in this and placed on a top shelf behind other boxes where the little ones can not get to it.
The box can be made as a keep sake box or even as a jewelry box.He who blesses his neighbor in a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted as cursing!

Nice box but still can't figure out why you all feel the need to carry firearms over there, that is unless you intend to kill someone, and am I right in saying that Kinder eggs are banned in the States in case children hurt themselves????

Apparently that Kinder egg ban goes way back to the 30's. Which was in place even before the eggs were invented and had to do with the toys being safe, not the chocolates. Plus it was an effort to control what came in from Italy as WWII began to heat up. The ban was lifted a few years ago, so there is no ban now, but strict rules about how they can be made. Just like there are on everything sold here for food.
The laws are even more strict about how you store a gun around kids BTW. Parents have been given life sentences when their kids got killed by an unsecured gun. Most gun owners take the responsibility very seriously. Unfortunately some don't and bad things happen.
Now as to why carry a gun. I would not expect someone who doesn't live here to understand, but in my case I carry for two reasons.
First to protect myself and my family from punks who would do us harm while out shopping or at the bank or any of the other hundreds of places we go to.
Second, because the very documents that our country was founded upon say I can. The government doesn't give me the right, God gave me the right to defend myself and our government has been given strict orders to never take that away.
So in answer to your observation about my planned use for a gun...... come here and try to do me or mine any harm and you'll learn exactly what I'm planning to do with it. Every time I strap it on I say a silent prayer that I never have to use it.... but....He who blesses his neighbor in a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted as cursing!
