Dan returns
Hi all,
You thought you got rid of me. Haven't done anything for almost 3 years, but moved up to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains 4 months ago and finally got a workshop again. A bit out of practise so I though I'd start on something simple. Just a small, simple box of Mahagony with a lid of Jarrah 'bricks'.
The box proportions don't look right though and the lid looks wrong. Still, I got plenty of time now to improve.
Good to be back.

I love the look of the lid Dan & yer i think i agree with Alex, i think maybe if it wasn't so high it would all come together nicely.

Geoff good to see you back.
Like the box and I agree it does look wrong but to me its the edge around the lid to light a colour. Looks like if you bumped the lid it would slide off.
Boxes bug me as usually they are to small or to big.

Second Try
Alex was right. I cut it down a bit and it looks much better. Also finished another one today. I like the design but the quality is poor. Need more practice. It's New Guinea Rosewood and Jarrah with Purple Heart on the lid.

No real magic. Just ran everything through the thicknesser first then cut out the individual shapes and laminated them into 4 sides. Bit tricky though getting the exact same shape on each piece. In fact the box started out quite a bit bigger than the finished item.
