Default A diamond pattern tissue box

Timbers are tobe Maple and sapele.

Started Friday evening, it was too warm in the shed during the daytime.

Got out some sapele and maple

Did some stripping, (the purple heart board is there as a spacer to enable the crown guard to drop down inside the fence)

    Obtained 12 strips.

Restarted Saturday afternoon in the warm shed!

Cut 4 diamonds shapes by hand, the pieces were too small for me on a machine.

Then found I needed some more maple stock so cut a short length off the plank to reduce weight.

Put through the bandsaw and then machined on the planer/thicknesser ready for another start hopefully Monday.

This will be an interesting design. Look forward to seeing its progress.

Going to be nice. But is it really 28 degrees in Devon? I thought the Gulf Stream was being diverted and everyone freezing over there.

Prepared the maple boards, (only got five pieces off the block this time)

laid out the strips to prepare for cutting to lengths.

Set the twelve pieces on my sled to cut all to equal lengths.

Then chickened out and only cut 6 lengths at a time, didnt fancy the holding position on the sled.

    finished up with 24 lengths.

Then stopped for the days session, had a heavy day yesterday, went to a neighbours retirement party and played the keyboard for three hours and that zonked me.

Computer going to the doctors in the morning to have Windows xp with service pack 3 loaded direct from a windows disk. The patch update is not satisfactory for loading some new software when needed.

Completed the diamond pattern tissue box apart from shellac and waxing which will be done tonight when its cooler.

(Couldn't resist putting it on the wife's laptop table )

The veneered box is awaiting the present heatwave to die down.
