Doug Stowe inspired - new saw, new jigs, new boxes.
Obviously very topical at the moment!
I was inspired by Doug's book and DVD, and needed a new saw that had mitre runners (the Hammer sliding panel doesn't have any!), so I found a good old solid unit on Trading Post just before Christmas.
So a saw, 2 blades 1 x 210mm (2.4mm kerf) 80T flat topped by Peacocks for mitre keys and 1 x 235mm 60T (2mm kerf) for fine cutting, a few pieces of ply and some clamps and a bit of time and I was away!!!
My output has increased dramatically and the results are great!
Below are some images of saw, jigs and boxes.

Some nice work there. Well done.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Great stuff,
He does have some most inspiring jigs.
Congratulations on using them so well.
Love the smaller boxes. Are they chamfered lids or a trick of the camera?
Either way they look great.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
Yes they are champhered. The small boxes, other than the thicknessing and sanding were done completely on the saw.
regards
Billy
PS Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, the jigs have quite dramatically changed the way I make boxes, and the ease with which it is done.

Thanks for posting...Love that cedar, it always looks good, has great grain and is a pleasure to work with.
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

Doug Stowe Boxes
Billy Boydes--Looks like you've got a handle on Doug's techniques and jigs. Your boxes look great. In the second group you have two pictures of what probably is box made of red cedar. What is the wood insert in the lid? I like that effect. Congratulations on your good work. A big Texas Yehaa! to you. Like to see more.,

Hi Billy,
A great big G'day Mate to you! The lid is an offcut of a bookmatched piece of Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle used in a previous box. I knew I would use it one day!!

Great stuff Billy! And a new tool to boot!
The wood selections are just beautiful. You should send a couple pics to Doug. He's very responsive to e-mails and sharing the craft. I'd love to go take a class with him one day.

Looks like you've been pretty busy with your new saw. Nice work. Doug continues to influence woodworkers everywhere.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
