    Default Dovetail key boxes

Hi fellow box makers i was wondering the easiest way to cut dovetails by hand and if anyone could give me some instructions for a jig please. Im looking to make some Dovetailed box's instead of mitered box's like I have done in the past, and if anyone could possibly tell me an easy way to do it without a router (i don't have one ) I would greatly appreciate it and will upload some photos of my first Dovetail that i make with my fellow box makers advice.

Suggest you watch this video, as a starting point.

That didn't work as expected, meant Paul Sellers makes a dovetail box (part 1 of 4) - the dovetails

It may just be a matter of interpretation, but I see a dovetail key box as a mitred box which has dovetail keys fitted accross the mitres. Generally primarily cosmetic, but the do provide mechanical fastening at the same time. I suspect your thread would be more appropriately titled Hand Cut Dovetails.

This is a guide to cutting dovetail key joints using a router, no reason why it could not be done with hand tools, but would need a degree of skill and experience to get spot on. You may be asked to subscribe to a free email tips mailing list to access the link, if so, it is benign, one email per week with tips and an occasional promo for their mags and books, much less intrusive than some American mags, and they don't sell/share the mailing list.

Mods, I have a set of notes (PDF) on hand cutting dovetails & making a dovetailed box, but it's too big (8.1MB) to upload. I'm happy for it to go into 'Box Bits' if you'll tell me what I need to do.
