Fairy box
This box is a collaboration between David and me. Admittedly, you can't see the hours I spent painting the intarsia image featured on the top. It was a pain, and I would dearly love to have another shot at it, using an air brush. David assures me it is possible to paint the pieces individually and then secure them as a picture.
The box is 195mmx170mmx70mm. It is made from English elm and we only used a light covering of French polish to do the finish. I was amazed at how beautiful the figuring is.

The top features an Intarsia of the fairy with a layer of perspex to protect the image.

very interesting LiliB, You sure did put some hours into that. I'm into thinking about designs on lids of boxes, but I need to extract the data out of my brain and onto timber at this stage,
Looks nice..!

David has now progressed significantly with his woodwork, and both of us tend to adapt ideas and create new concepts, sometimes based on others' designs, sometimes just out of our heads.
I think the creative urge has to be there and for us it is the challenge of seeing whether an idea works or not that keeps David going. So, if you have some ideas, put them to the test. It's marvellous how often they work.

Well done you two!!
There is obviously a niche for that sort of work but I don't think, in this country, you will ever make a living from it.
