Skill, Craftmanship and Art just about cover your boxes. Makes for a very steep aim for any other contestants. Are the knobs on top of the handle of the longer box timber or wood. Are they just decoration or part of what holds the handle on?

I'm not in the competition. There are some very nice boxes. The handle on my walnut box with spalted hickory lid is functional and is made with two small shaped blocks of wood and one thin strip. It is held in place with 1/8" dowels that are drilled down through the assembly into the lid.

It is easy to make. You stack and glue the parts the way you want them, then wait for the glue to set. Then drill for the dowel to fit through the handle into the lid. Apply glue in the hole before the dowel is driven into place.

That's too bad. I suspect that they are afraid to ship the granite top saw outside the US.

I'm sure we'd be happy to take the equivalent prize in vouchers form Lee Valley or Rocker

Yeah I find that any of those competitions run by American mags or companies are never available for overseas entries. A shame really as I'm sure American folk would appreciate seeing different timbers and such around the world made into boxes & furniture etc. A gift voucher would be an ideal solution as Wendy mentioned Maybe next time...

I just registered although there is no way I am going to win. There are some pretty amazing boxes already entered. Still, it's all experience.

One question - I didn't see in the rules how many entries one is allowed to make. Do they allow multiple entries?

Thanks for the heads up Doug. I posted a couple of mine in support for this chance to see some wonderful boxes.
