Just finished a Xmas present
I made this box from Wenge and Blue Gum and used stainless steel pins to attach the legs to the case . I borrowed this idea from Doug Stowe's book . The box is 330x230x110 and was finished with lacquer and wax . Next time I will have to take a bit more care with the placement of the legs
Although the box is complete I took some shots to show the progress.
I glued a sacrificial spacer to the legs after having predrilled the legs before glueing them to the box case
I shaped the legs as shown here
and pressed the stainless steel pins into the legs using the drill press
and then fixed the legs to the box case by alternately tapping on each pin
I've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

A beautiful box, Peter, especially for me, the interior.
I am working on 15 years so there is no reason you should not be aiming for 25 !
Very best of luck.

Nice work Peter, I especially like the interior and your choice of wood. Thanks for the "how you did the legs" photos. Very informative and methods I can use in the future.

Just an absolutely fantastic box, Peter. And one well worth a greenie. I cannot thank you enough for the leg detail. I've been intrigued by that detail since I saw it in the book as well. Your router table jig with the pattern bit and toggle clamp is a work of genius and very safe as well. Keeps ones fingers out of the way. Thank you for a most informative post.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
