    Default Flame Box

This box is made from some recycled kitchen cupboard boards the I think were Tasmanian Oak or Mountain Ash. I had the idea to inlay some substantial laser cut corners and these were made from old Australian Cedar to get the contrast to the lighter Ash. The lid is Australian Cedar and the centre medallion is Black Heart Sassafras and is hinged with a 3mm dia pin,. The internal tray is cut from one piece of Huon Pine.
The box has been finished with Osmo oil.
In hindsight I made a few mistakes. The Tasmanian Oak/Mountain Ash was probably not the best choice and the internal mitre corner splines should have been cut closer to the inside of the box. You can see them on each corner and it would look better if they were not visible when the lid is closed.

And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
