Help - looking for a decent double catch half mortise box lock source?
Does anyone know where to source decent half mortise box locks in Australia? The type with two catches like this one below, as opposed to the single catch jewellery box type that I've found here but which aren't suitable.
It's for a mahogany gun box that I've been making for my Father in law for a lovely old shotgun that I've restored for him.
This is something like what I'm after (and I may yet order one in from the US), but I'd much prefer to find a supplier in Australia:

I have used Jacksons locks in the past, but can't remember where I bought them from. You could try to contact Jacksons Lock Manufacturing - Home and ask them if they have what you want and if they sell direct or who their retailers are.

Thanks BF, very much appreciated - their catalogue shows just what I'm after and they have a list of suppliers on their "contact us" page, so ideal. Cheers

Thank you David. I'd actually come across them while trawling through old posts here on the forum just after posting above and have ordered one of their locks to see what they are like..........unfortunately I had trouble just ordering the one lock and my shopping turned into a basket full of of hinges, stays, catches, handles etc

Yes, I know exactly what you mean, I do the same! But, it is actually a saving since, from memory, you only same the same postage as if you were ordering one item. I have used their locks for a few years now and find they are good quality - as long as you order the better ones -- G&C seem to sell a range of qualities of hardware, perhaps to suit different pockets. It does seem to be a reflection of the old adage that you get what you pay for.
When I was in Tasmania I used Jackson locks and can attest to their quality as well, but they are not as easy to purchase up here. Also, once I made some router jigs to suit the G&C locks it would be more difficult to use others.
