Thank you for the kind remarks. really though this box is nothing that anyone else here hasn't already done in some form or fashion.
I truly have been amazed at the kinds of boxes, joinery and spectacular woods that have been used on this site. I am deeply honored and proud to have been welcomed by all of you very talented box makers who truly find joy in what they do and seeing others value their boxes.
I wanted to do this work in process as I promised a few months ago, and found that this project was one worth photograhing. I really left out a lot of tedious steps, but I tried to leave the meat in it. All in all this project was nearly 200 steps in the making.
Now I have to go back and clean up my drawinigs, make ones where they don't exist and basically get ready to see if lightning can strike twice in the same place.
ICN,
Bill

Well....It's December 07, and I thought I'd bump this one. Especially since I 2 more boxes coming out VERY shortly.

Bill, on you drawer knobs/pulls, those were mortised in? I enjoyed seeing this whole process again.

I can't believe I missed this thread before! I just read the entire thing from start to finish. Like a good book, I just couldn't put it down. You give me inspiration. I just wish I had half the talent. Congratulations on what I consider to be a work of art.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Thank you all. I guess it would have been done in half the time if I hadn't been making three at the same time and taking pictures.
A few lessons learned (year later)...don't make the tolerances so close on the drawers. Other people's houses may have a different humidity level than mine. (The recipient has her drawers stuck...no pun intended ) A slight sanding will fix it though.

Well what can I say. One of my favourite all time threads. Beautiful work. It is impossible to criticise however perhaps the drawer pulls could be more subtle?
Have a great Christmas! I am looking forward to future work.
