A display box
Hi,
I just joined the woodworking community, so I thought a picture would be better than words to present myself. The display box is made from a scrap merbau timber I found in a local timber yard in Vermont, Melbourne. The size is about 60 cm (H) x 40 cm (W) x 6 cm. The display box is for jewellery. Finished in Danish oil. I made it one piece and than split it so that the lid is flush with the base - I learned this from this forum - thanks.
Regards,
Vonveska

Hi Vonveska,
Very nice display box. Great joinery on the edges. I've only done a little work with merbau but find that it comes up nice.
Oh, I just noticed, does the person in pic # 2 own pants?

Lovely - understated so it won't detract from the contents, but beautiful in its own right
cheers & Welcome

Thanks guys for reminding me that I am not only getting old, but also getting blind! I belong to my garage not to the keybord.

That is a really nice case Vonveska! And the positioning of the splines for the splitting of the box worked beautifully. Did you cut the glass, must have been fairly exacting to get those corners right. I must say I am puzzled by the comments about Picture No 2. All I can discern in the reflection is a Windsor chair, whats all this about t shirts, undies and pants, and morning coffee? I must be missing something.

Hi, I got the glass cut from a pro, I tried to cut it myself, but it always broke on the wrong side . I watched the glassmaster and it was so easy to do (but not very cheap).
As to the picture #2 - this is a secret, if I would tell I could make my own wooden box ... (I cropped the picture after it amused few members.)
Thanks for your comments,
I appreciate it.
