    Default Humidor

I promised to post pictures of the finished humidor. This is the first time I have made a Humidor, and I was pleased with the results as this was the first time I have hand cut all the dovetails for a box. Since this labour of love I have now purchased a giftkins dovetail jig what a joy to work with.
The box is a medley of Australian timbers with the main timber NSW Rosewood

Very nice job Flint. Got any Cubans to put in it?

I sometimes care to dabble in the world of the cigar, and would like to make a humidor myself one day.

Which Quadrant hinges did you use and where did you get them from?
Is that gauge called a hydrometer or hygrometer? I have no clue

Thumbs up Watch out for the green canon fired your way...

Very nice. Where did you get the hardware? Those hinges, and the drawer puills are very sweet.

Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think...that a time is to come when those (heirlooms) will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our father did for us.’ “ --John Ruskin. Audels Carpenters and Builders Guide, 1923 Theo Audel & CO. New York.

What a loverly box Flint. You are right to be pleased. What are the design requirements for Humidors? Humidity is an obvious one so I take it the gauge is measuring that.

It's a hygrometer, and measures relative humidity.

Nice job Flint, is it for yourself or someone else?

The hinges are from Patrick and Kent Item QH-01 $26.40 a pair. Not the cheapest but great quality. I also use Garret and Wade Glue for all my boxes as excess chips of the surface. Also from Patrick and Kent.

Thanks for the feed back, I made it for my Son in England and I wanted to showcase some of the fantastic timbers we have. I have listed what timbers were used. The Veneers came from Gunns in Tasmania
·Carcase made from New South Wales Rosewood
·Top veneer of crown cut celery pine from Tasmania
·Inside lid flame myrtle burl veneer from Tasmania
·Boxes inside from Huon pine. One divider from black hearted sassafras both from Tasmania
·Inlay at front and back are kauri pine from Western Australia
·Base of drawer crown cut Tasmanian Oak veneer
·Internal supports are Blackwood from Victoria.
·Hand finished with Feast and Watson Tung oil The final finish Carnauba Wax
    ·Shavings are Huon Pine
