    Default Humidor March 07

Here's a Humidor I've started. Nope, not gonna WIP this one to death. Just a few pics here and there over the course of the week to show progress.

It has Jatoba sides, framed Maple lid with Wenge', Maple inlays and guide rails. It will have a very unique locking mechanism (not my design, but since I'm working from ziltch drawings, I can claim part of it). The Wenge' framing on the lid will sport a bit of a crown type of look.

There's no way i can attempt to show how it will look from these pics, just take my word, it will be vastly different upon completion.

    ICN,

    Bill

    Bill,

That is going in a nice direction and the woods will really compliment each other. I do hope you will WIP us to death, as it is a great teaching tool for us newbies still riding the learning curve. This curve is as bad as a roller coaster
    Cheers,
    Bob

    It is looking good Bill.

That must be a pretty fancy plug cutter. It is doing a neat job on the wenge.
Can you add some details of it and a closer pic, please?

    Thanks All,

Here's a few more pics, but remember, the final product will look significantly different than this...

Looks like you are going for the gold on that one. Can't wait to see how it finishes.

Hmmmm... a hinge set up it looks like. Keep'em coming! Will the dark wood sit down inside and the other be the lid and shuts down on top of and covers the dark wood?

    Hi Bill,
Was asked last night to make a cigar box as opposed to Humidor. Love the way this project is coming together. Great router work. Please explain the extra grove both ends outside the lid?
Look forward to seeing finished article.
    Regards

    Hello All,

I hope to have this completed in a couple of days. Had some family hospital issues, but all is well.

    No pics today...sorry...

    However,

The locking lever mechanisim is almost complete.
The side guide rails (beside the lid) are being put on.
The artistic decoration along the bottom is being put on.
The full mortise lock has been installed.
The lid 95 degree stop along the rear panel has been designed (not cut).

Still more to do on top of the box lid where the locking lever will be connected to its piston, cradle and other artwork.

    ICN,

    Bill

Ok, just a couple more,...still lots to do on the lid and lever. LOT's of sanding left as well. (I hate that step )

    ICN,

    Bill
