Thread: huon box -lid/hinge help

Hi all,
A friend gave me some Huon offcuts to make a "simple" box. In order to match the grain on all four sides I followed the info on the box bits series(thanks for that) so I now have a "butterfly" resaw of wood which will give me:
2 off 120mmx68mmx8mm (ends)
2 off 240mmx68x8mm(front n back)
Which I can arrange to follow grain all the way around.

Im yet to miter cut these but will soon after I have dressed/removed the resaw marks.
I have some nice purple heart to drop in as keys.

I do have some photos(on home machine) but im at work and for some reason I have "access denied" so Ill post em later.

Problem is I'm just not sure what to do with the lid. I could make a simple siton with maybe magnetic buttons. But Id like to make some sort of hinge. I just cant find anything that is small enough to work on an 8mm thick edge.

So Im after ideas for the lid.
The lid is uncut as yet and is another piece of huon 15mm thick and still oversize at 150x300mm. If I did a simple siton I could add slight concave curve (think old TV pincushion distortion) which would certainly work out ok and break the monotonous straight sides of the box. I could even add false keys to the corners too for effect.
If I do that it poses the next question what to do with the bottom which I was just going to square up and put into a rebate on the bottom.
