Incra's Box Joint Jig or Make one?
Hi Folks,
I'm thinking about building an adjustable Box Jointing Jig for my tablesaw sled like this one:
How to cut box/finger joints on our table saw sled jig - YouTube
Or is the Incra Box Joint Jig worth the money and just buy one?.

I suppose that depends on both your budget and how much you like making jigs. I made a basic box jig years ago but it was never quite precise enough, so i finally bought the Incra second hand when one came up. I use it for smallish boxes and have it mostly set up for 3/8" joints, but its easily reset when needed - I like it a lot. In fact i just made a dozen small boxes of various sizes for xmas giveaways. They do come up second hand reasonably often at around $250-ish, but i did see they're on special at Timbecon for $399? Whichever way you go its a terrific joint for small projects.

I've made one previously. Never that happy with it. I just use the Gifkin finger/box joint jig, its very simple, only one cutter, router a full box in a couple of minutes. They are only 5mm though. Perfect for smallish boxes.

Thats what I'm thinking, I've heard alot of people who make these box joint jigs which work for a while and then after a few months or so they're not as accurate and have to make another one. I do like making jigs but I'm unsure of the accuracy on a repeatable basis over time. I know I could certainly make the one in the Youtube video and it does seem like a good design as its adjustable but I wonder if it might just be worth investing in the Incra.

If you've got an Incra fence on your router table and a right angle fixture you can cut box joints at virtually any size. Match compatible router bits to your fence (imperial bits for the imperial fence and vice versa for metric) and you can cut joints wider than the bit by doing multiple passes. Spacing is also very adjustable. The fence is so versatile for so many jobs once you've used one you'll never go back to an ordinary fence.
So, I won't vote for either option!

If you have a dado set, then I would make something like the Stumpy Nubs jig. I can’t fit a dado stack to my saw (European), so I made a jig for my router table. It’s fiddly, but works well enough.

I made this one many years ago. It's always worked for me, but it might be called 'overcomplicated'
