Installing a 5mm concealed barrel hinge
Hi all, I guess this topic has been discussed before. And yes I have looked at most articles I can get my hands on, for how to install these hinges.
After spending a few hours in the shed trying to set up a jig in my drill press, you only need to be out a whisker for the top and bottom not to line up properly.
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas on a super way to set up the drilling of these,.?
I also note that the 45 degree bevel cut needs to extend a tad further than halfway through the hole for the lid to open up at a bit more than 90 degrees,
Any thoughts,
Paul

If it's possible to drill through the lid into the base before separating and cutting the bevel, that's the best way to ensure the holes match. However, it's not always possible.
The other way is to mark the centres of the holes to be drilled using a marking gauge. Mark the distance from each end and from the back on both the lid and the base, then enlarge it with an awl, before drilling with a spur bit.
And yes, the bevel has to extend very slightly past the centre line of the hinges.
