Jewellery box/cabinet.
A bit more than a box but it utilises the same techniques etc so I'm putting it here anyway!
This one has been on and off the workbench since January when it's predecessor sold and the gallery felt a little empty without something like it. All the Emu Apple in it was cut from one 'bowl blank' that just happened to be the first tree I collected when I started out here. The doors and back are veneered while the sides are solid.

The legs aren't on the original plan . My original idea didn't allow for the doors folding back and I would have had to reduce the footprint to fit them so the first set were put aside for another project and a small redesign produced the arrangement you see now.
The drawers and legs are made from Scrub Leopardwood and the handles and slip-feathers are Norfolk Island Hibiscus - really happy with the way these two colours worked together.

The ring-tray is stopped so it won't lose it's load if somebody pulls it out too far but if you know where to look, it can be removed fully to reveal a hidden compartment.

I'm still tempted to redo the necklace hanger out of metal to make it a bit 'sleeker' with a full-extension action that slides a bit better than the wooden version. It's OK empty but I suspect it will get sticky if it gets loaded up with a pile of gold chain .

G'day John. Thanks for the comment The box part is 300 wide, 180 deep and 450 high.
Hanging in there this end - good to see your still on the go! I just retired a couple of months ago - a bit early but my back is knackered so I wanted to go while I am still able to get around.

The leg design may not be as per original plan but it sure works. The use of the various timbers is done well too and the overall effect is stunning.
What finish did you use?Cheers, Bob the labrat
Measure once and.... the phone rings!

Lovely Vern, really nice! Something to aspire to.
Don't you love that Aussie Oil, I've just been using some tonight myself.

Wow. You're just going from strength to strength, aren't you?
I bet it'd look just as drop-dead gorgeous in person.
I love it.

Didn't know there was such a thing happening! Have been planning a trip 'home' for about 2 years now but between the surgeons and COVID, I haven't been any further than Rocky. Still on the books I but haven't set a schedule 'cos I depend on the co-driver a lot now - when is the turnout?
