get out your HGG (Hot Glue Gun)

Get your Material/faux/Suede/suede/velvet, and bobs your uncle,

What I do, is first cut some white rigid, but not too thick, cut to the size of the space for it to go in, but shy by 1 mm T&B, Basically 0.5mm al round
I then cut lengths of gap fill to 0.5 - 1.0mm oversize to the width, so it fits snug. you don't want to much extra as it ll crumple up and look s--t.
hopefully the length of the space is enough to get an equal amount of pieces in, again side by side, snug but not crushed.

Then I just cut enough material to go round the fill with 5mm over hang to glue down.
I glue the first side with a bead of glue along one edge then wrap the material round the fill, then run another bead on the outside of the first bead roll the material over and hold til set. I generally use hemming pins for this bit helps me move on to the next one whilst.
then once they are all one, I trim the ends off flush with the gap fill, this it is important, "use material scissors, and nothing else" as they will be defined by the edge and the neatness of the cut. I then glue each "log" to the card before putting in the space in the tray.

Good luck, oh, and a word of caution, its hard to keep the gap fill straight. there will be a small banana bend in it as its rolled up. you can probably try and lay flat and straight then warm ever so gently with a hair drier (and I mean gently), otherwise it will melt. or put a length in some warm water for a few minutes then lay out straight in some form of mould, let cool then slice up.
