A Jewelry Box for My Granddaughter for Christmas
DSCN4559.JPGDSCN4555.jpgDSCN4557.jpgDSCN4558.jpg
For a while now, I have wanted to try a new technique of blending two different kinds of wood together in a curved joint rather than a straight line. This year I completed a jewelry box project as a Christmas gift for my Granddaughter. I used cherry and poplar for wood choices and the finished product came out pretty nice. The box was sanded down to 400 grit and finished with four coats of water-based polycrylic. I was quite happy with the results and so was my Granddaughter.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Thanks for looking,
Bob

Very elegant. A big understatement as to the amount of careful work gone into it. I like it!!
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

Lucky granddaughter. Nice work.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

A truly beautiful result. If you do another similar one in the future, would you mind posting work in progress pics so I can see how you achieved such an outstanding piece.
Thanks for sharing and you must be very proud.
Cheers

Spoiling the grandkids too eh! Very nice box . I would also be interested in your technique for creating the wavy joins if you're willing to share it.

Thanks for the comments
Thanks to all for the comments on the wavy jewelry box. No promises but in a few months I may do another and if so, I will try to take some inprocess pictures to show how it is done. It is really quite easy to do.
