Default How do you join your frame

Hi all, would like to know how all you box makers, join the frame, on frame and panel lids on boxes. I use mortise and tenon, but now I want to make a lot of boxes, so wondering if there is an easier way. The lids are 12mm and 15mm thick.Thought maybe biscuits, but they are too wide as frame is only 30mm wide, other option is probably, dowell, or could make bridle joints. Again time consuming. So how does everybody join their frames. Met one person who just glues them, said they last a life time but I dont like that idea. Interested in what you all use. Thanks for all your help

I use M&T. I guess you could use dominos, but I wouldn't rely on gluing alone. One good bump, and ...

I join the frames with a floating tenon in a contrasting timber, as i get clean cross cuts on the frame pieces with the drop saw, anway it works for me , Set up height of the slot cutter on the R.T. for ctr of frames sections, and plane offcuts down to fit as floating tenons. might try a M.T. joint next time. one time i didnt orient the floaters correctly, end grain , long grain , and the joint failed, pegged it with a blind dowel, bbq scewer. regards rossco

The little 4 and 5 mm dominos give a great joint for lids and for picture frames!

Dominoes - they're the best thing since sliced bread.....

    easy, quick and VERY repeatable.

if you ain't got one yet, you should get one. you'll soon get over the pain of the purchase price.
