    Default Leather/Suede Storage

    Hi All,

Got my first delivery from Birdsall Leather and noticed creases in the split pigskins due to folding and packaging.

The question is two (2) fold. How do I get the crease marks out, or do I work around them and also what is the best way to store the pigskins?

Currently I have them rolled up in a Postpack Tube.

    George

Can you contact the sender to ask their advice.
That way you may keep open the option of replacement.
Depends on purchase circumstances of course.

Creases are removed with a mister and warm iron.

Store them rolled on a tube. I keep them in brown paper and/or a custom cardboard box for moisture control.

FYI - just found this mob today. Theyve some nice colours: TOTE KANGAROO LEATHER 0.6-0.8mm | DEEP PURPLE FOIL– Packer Leather

One source for a tube is 50 or 100mm DWV pipe.

Make sure the skin is dry before you roll it up. I have some rolled on the cardboard tube and inside a large 150mm poly tube. i also store my cork the same way.

    Cheers.

I thought to mention that I'm no expert on this.

I've simply bought a large number of skins over the years for boxes. When I DO buy, I go nuts and get 2 of each colour.... yeah, it gives me a lot of choices sometimes

The tubes from xmas wrapping paper are fine. The cardboard boxes I simply make up using my retractable cutter, packing tape and cutting mat to ensure they don't waste too much space

I have had this problem as well and my supplier said they receive the pigskin folded.
Be aware that if you iron it it will shrink so its best to ask your supplier to unfold it and then roll it for delivery. I have all my skins draped over a table and eventually the creases disappear.
