Thanks for th elink. This box looks like it'll be good one. Thanks for sharing about cutting just shy of through the board on the miters so that the 1/8th of an inch is not lost.

    Can't wait to see more.

Nice progress. I really like your shooting board, and it reminds me to try and find one or make one as nice as yours. The inlay looks like its going in nice. After seeing this, I think you and I put inlays in the same. It gives a nice crisper look this way, then putting the box together and routing a rectangle around the perimeter with having to chisel the corners square.

That brings to mind another thought that I have to tell new boxmakers, and that being, you really have to think through the sequence of building the box, so that one step doesn't mess up another.

    great job so far!

Nice WIP tutorial for a newbie like me. Thanks for taking the time to do this and I too really like your shooting board. I don't have one yet and yours looks like a good model to duplicate for my shop.
    Cheers,
    Bob

still looking good. Thanks for the added comment about keeping the dowell ends square so that they continue to support the pc thru the router cut.

Well this is getting a bit long and intense, but the couple of people this was originally for are picture junkies and want the exacting detail. So posted is another set of this weekends work.

And thanks for the kind words guys.

Nice work Gecko and thanks for the blow by blow! You have done a great job and I for one appreciate the time you have spent documenting this box. The inlay work is great!

Gotta say....this box is really coming along nicely. great tutorial for those who want to make a box like this. I think we need to get together and make a book like our friends Tony and Doug.
