    Default Medal Box

    Hey There,

I had a client come to me and wanted a box to display his Dads 1st World War Medals, with the end result of handing them to His Son in the future, ( he approached me in about April, I got busy with some pens and only finished the box tonite) I aplogised profusely and he was wrapt in the out come, (me not so much) I had some Curly Jarrah, but not enough, so the bottom is Spotted Jarrah. The initial requirment was to display the Medals and a Photo of Dad at the War, the photo just blew me away, and I really wanted to do the job right, as I said before the Client is wrapt and that is the main thing. We fitted the Medals tonite and the following photos show the end result. The dimensions are 150mm long id, 100mm wide id, and 45mm high id, the finished timber is about 10-12 mm, Finish is EEE and Shellawax, hand buffed.

Hi Hazza, I love the box. It looks great. You asked for comments, and the only way i can see to improve on what you have done (and this is coming from a former soldier who served for 20 years and has done a few similar jobs) is that it is crying out for a small brass plate recessed into the lid so it is flat with the surface with the medal recipient's army number, rank and name engraved in it. about 50mm long and 25 mm high would be ideal for a box that size i think. Just a thought.

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

Hey Doug, the client is getting the details Laser Engraved into the top of the box, was his idea from the get go, the inlayed brass plaque sounds more in the keeping with the whole concept, I will see if I can get a pic once it has been engraved,
