Miniature Blackwood Box
This one is made from a small scrap of nice, figured Blackwood I had laying around.
The body and lid main are heartwood and the lid inlay is sapwood. The body is one piece, hollowed out with the Dremel plunge router attachment. (This limited the depth to 12.5mm max.)
The inside is a bit rough-hewn. Pretty hard to get in and sand it properly. My Carbatec mini carving scrapers were in their element here and helped clean it up a bit.
I turned a short length of Blackwood dowel for the feet, (in the hand-drill).
Finish is two light coats of wipe-on poly, then a 1200 scuff and wax.
I would have applied more coats of poly, but I only had the last few drops in the bottle. Waiting for a new one to arrive - tomorrow hopefully.... Steve

Thanks guys. This one was just a bit of fun - something to do while I waited for a new bottle of poly. It didn't come up too bad.

I think it might be too small for what my small box in the last box challenge was made for, but that's what came to mind.

I wasn't here for the last box challenge, only started woodworking in February, just before I joined here. Just had a look. You mean the Red Cedar condom box? This is way too small even for that - only really intended for decoration. (Nice box, by the way.I like your Red Cedar and Tassie Oak box, from the same challenge, too.)
