Miniature Queen Anne Chest
Made this as a fancy jewellery box, still have to source some handles for the drawer pulls yet. the CD is for reference to show the size and you can earn yourselves a brownie point if you guess the title of the CD.

Go to the top of the class that man, Pink Floyd (and other great music) still get's played on my "Hi-Fi" not an ipod whatever that is? and sometimes the vinyl comes out when the boss goes shopping.
The timber is straight grained Black American Walnut and Burr Walnut veneer for the fronts of the drawers (the two top ones were four-matched as was the top, the bottom two just book-matched) and the sides, the top was veneered mdf with a lipping glued on at 45deg to get the top grain (at an angle and not end grain) then cross-banded veneer to carry on the grain over the edge. The draws are just Tulip wood (soft to cut) and had some scraps laying around.
Glad you liked it (the cd that is)

P.S Caught my grandson trying to play a vinyl sometime ago but he couldn't figure out how to get it into the cd player.

Andy...go to the top of the class. That is superb
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

That's a beautiful piece of work Andy.
Did you make the legs yourself? If so, how did you go about doing them?Chris

I've lost count how many times I indulged in the silly weed whilst listening to that CD (amongst others).
Oh, by the way, stunning piece of work Andy.-Scott

Love it! Beautiful work.

The legs are made from one piece (50mm square) which extends all the way to the top (wish I had done some photo's) ideally you need a piece where the end grain goes across at 45 deg but couldn't find some.
Firstly the round foot has to be turned off centre to the corner piece which goes all the way up (see picture) then pattern are cut and stuck to the wood, it is then cut out on the bandsaw, first one side which is then taped back on to provide support then the other, this is where you will see where the off centre bit comes in as only the inside of the upper square section has not been removed, if you enlarge the picture and follow the lines up yo will see what I mean.
The final shape is achieved with some elbow grease and a scraper.

Hmm, on rotation on my CD player in the shed:
Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers.
Beatles: Abbey Road.
The Whitlams: Torch The Moon.
The Angles: Face to Face.
The Wiggles: Wake up Jeff.
By the way, gave up the silly weed over 25 years ago. Peace.-Scott
