Default A music jewelery box... the one armed bandit strikes!!

Okay so over the past few months Ive been bunged up due to an altercation with a forstner bit that suddenly acquired a taste for my finger... so Ive been restricted in what I can do out in the cave

BUT!! I had already gotten the ply frames and the top frame made for a jewelery box for the 15 yr old daughters birthday a month ago ...so over the last few months Ive quietly been slowly doin stuff

Today I sorta got to the 99.9% dun stage so I gave it to her

Front and sides main veneer is Olive with a rather rough Ebony surround

The top is Walnut burl with Oregon frame the underside is Black Walnut

Inside is Hickory with leather on the base and shelf the shelf surround is Sheoak the stands Jarrah

With her two favorite things teddy bears and frangipani on the top and front shes STOKED!!... well I think thats what she thought with the huge grin big kiss and "WOW ITS WICKED BAD DAD"

    Happy belated birfdy Jacinta

sigh now of course I gotta explain to her highness how I managed to get it finished with one paw and a total ban on activities in the cave

    Cheers

And you did it with one arm??? Makes my attempts with my two left arms seem like .......(insert swear word) crap...

Well done and happy Birthday to your daughter, I'm sure she appreciates the music box.

Ding, I think HRH will let this one slide, as it is done for the junior HRH. I would not attempt anything for yourself .

Where did you pick up the little bear? MBGitW likes bears as well.

BTW I better comment on the box, looks good. Well done ol'One Arm!

The finger hole on the lid inside wouldn't have been done with a forstner bit by any chance?

Nice box, Ding. It's always a good feeling when you know your efforts are appreciated, innit?

What a great present! Very cute box, with music no less! Sorry for the mishap to the hand, and had it been me....the missus would have been told, "I cut it on the fender while washing your car ". That would kill two birds with one stone....1. Great sympathy and much hugs and kisses from the Princess, and 2. She washes her own car now.

Very nice! I love the woods. And that is was done one handed makes it all the more special. Nothing quite like the smile of the kids when they get a pretty box eh? My poor daughter just seems to aquire my failures. She loves them but....

What tune does it play, Ding? My experience with 15 year old females recently (more neices than I could poke any stick at)is that the music is what needs to be a la mode.

Beaut box, by the way and I love the veneering.

What music?... why "Its a Wonderful world" of course!! so shes a tad weird an likes it so she got it!

With the veneering Im presently starting a new "veneer picture" artwork... same theme as the last one ala sailing... but with a twist... I was given an antique brass model a few weeks back by the inlaws and thought Id go 3D and make a stand for it but make a background with the veneers the sea under it will be raised to cover the stand... a nice bit of Jarrah for a frame and bobs yer uncle

I must admit I do enjoy veneering
