Myrtle magic
Just finished this box from a few pieces I had in my stockpile. The lid insert is Myrtle Burl which came from a block that I resawed then bookmatched together. The box body is made from what I believe is Walnut and the internals are a combination of Silver Ash and Huon Pine. I pinched Paul's idea for the keepers to hold the ring holder cylinders in place, so I hope he doesn't mind. I have used Constantia Wood Oil as the finish and when it has had enough time to cure fully I will give it a wax. Dimensions are 300 x 190 x 90.
Sorry about the watermark on the first photo as I was playing around with a free online photo manager.

Beautiful, Dallas, and a super bookmatch of the burl. Someone is going to be very lucky indeed.

Dallas , Beautiful box , very well finished and I love myrtle burl. In years past I used heaps of myrtle burl veneer ,one of the best for jewellery boxes. Dorothy still has 3 boxes, won't part with them. cheers John.
