    Default Northern Silky Oak

I visited a customer on a new construction site of a national furniture manufacturer and they were fitting internal door and window reveals in Northern Silky Oak. This timber was some of the best i had seen and i expressed an interest in any offcuts that would be destined for the bin. A few weeks later i had a photo in my inbox of a nice bundle with my name on it and seeing as though my customer went out of his way to acquire it i thought it was fitting to repay him with a nice box from some of the best quarter sawn pieces.

Beautiful timber, and you've made a very nice box from it. A very fitting gift for your client.

Spectacular, I love this timber. What did it smell like whilst you were machining it? Curious as I have some and it stinks, just wondering.

The hardware is from China and bought through Etsy.

I have read the comments about the unpleasant odor it gives off and have a few different batches of Silky Oak but none of it has given off any bad smell while machining.
