Pantheon Memory Box
At a Wheathills Open Weekend a chance 'throwaway' comment by a customer culminated 18 months later in the following marquetry box (yes it is a box).
The client wanted to combining his great passion, the theatre, with a place to store some of the memorabilia he has collected from all over the world.
The exterior brickwork imarquetry is in Maple.
The pillars are Zebrano and the stairs Maple.
The Dome is made from Spalted Beech.
The Memory Box took over 2,300 hours to complete.
Over 10,000 pieces of Marquetry are incoroprated into the piece.
Over 300 hours was spent traditionally French Polishing the box and its components - no spray or lacquer was used.
The brasswork is all handmade and cast in London from 22 carat gilt on Brass.

Shazaayamm!!!
That's an absolutely amazing accomplishment. Congratulations to you my friend. I figure you spent an average of 30 hours a week for 78 weeks on this project.
I hope you charged at least 1.5 years of salary for the box. Maybe more because I bet you didn't have any customers left after 1.5 years of working on practically nothing else.
PS - If this isn't the biggest and best thing you've done, I sure hope you post the others.
Megabest,
Jim
