    Default Pen boxes

I had a 150mm cube of Huon Pine which has been sitting around for years and didn't know what to do with it. It looked fairly plain on the outside but I thought I would slice it up to use one day in boxes. After cutting it I found that it had impressive features on the inside so I thought it would be good to make up a couple of boxes for pens. Then I had to make the pens to fill the boxes so one is a Sierra with Jarrah Burl and the other is an Elegant Beauty Australiana with Myrtle, both finished with CA. The box lids were made from some Rose Sheoak that I picked up at Maleny earlier in the year while up that way.

Some nice swirly grain in that Huon, Dallas. Are the handles made with bark on? Looks quite effective.

Wow, both the box an pen has come up very nicely, i have a soft spot for Huon Pine an i think you have done really well with it.
Also i do love a good CA finish.

The handles came from some wood within the main material. Sometimes Huon has those bark inclusions inside and it was one of those.

Very nice boxes and equally lovely pens Dallas, well done. I haven't made any pens for a while now, one day I will make a few again.
