pick up some nice lace birdseye sheoak etc...
so here's the story, i used to only post threads on big stuff, and i only into big heavy furniture that has natural edge. but because of my craziness for wood and my house is currently full of wooden furniture that things that i need and don't. but i will not want to sell any of them because every single piece of them have their story from why making it, where to buy the wood, to the time that i spent on each of them.
then.. some issues i've got a neighbor complaints that i only allowed to used my power tools for 2 hours a day. then i started to use my hand tools heavily.
also, because of my house is full of furniture, no room allows me to make more, it will only make the house has no room to walk!
then, i started to fall in love with rare and exotic wood, but just couldn't find any in Perth, or, ridiculously expensive. last Friday me and 2 of my mates went to Margaret river and having some relax holiday for 3 days, we were driving around until we drove by Fifty One Road, and we saw a timber mill named Grace Wood, so we rock up and give the guy a ring, he came up and we started to looking around at his wood. i saw some sheoak, but fair quality, quiet and normal board, until i flipped it over, i found gold! it's all Birdseye lace sheoak!!!! it's around 20mm rough sawn. so i bought all of them and starting to chatting around with the guy and he show me his little garage at the back, it is a gold mine, peppermint burl slices (never ever saw something like that), huge clean no crack marri burl slabs, curly tuart slabs, curly jarrah slabs, birdseye karri slabs, birdseye this.. birdseye that, lace this, lace that... i was gone crazy, but my cash in my wallet wouldnt allows me to buy all of them!!
then before i left, he show me his "firewood" section, trust me, if you're box maker, you will want to take it all, there is so so so many birdseye lace sheoak off cut, then he walking around and give me this and that... all damn good pieces.i was regretted that i haven't got a trailer with me, no room in the car for it.
now, the only reason why i havent started my first box is because i really desperately need a table saw, and hopefully a router table, because there's no way for me to cut these boards into a straight thin board.
there are some photos showing what i brought back! i guaranteed will going back so soon!!! of course.. with a trailer!

Hey Jovian,
I have taken notes and directions and will be there soon, shouldn't post addresses of 'Secret Stashes'.
I am heading down to Albany and a couple of other places in a couple of weeks, might divert to Margs on the journey

Don't you just love it when stuff like that happens Jovian?
A couple of decades ago I was touring the Central West of NSW (Bathurst/Orange etc) and we spotted a place that had a mineral & fossil exhibition (we were/are both long term fans of same). Typical country shed looking sort of affair, but immediately upon entry my bloody eyes popped and I knew that this was something outrageously special! Turns out it was the "Somerville Collection" which is the largest private collection in Oz, and one of the very finest in the world. Now housed in a nice old church in Bathurst (and I'll bet ozhunter hasn't been to see it).
Cheers
Brett

Your sickening profanity has no place on this board.
This is a revolting example of extreme good luck and to share it is just rubbing salt, lemon, some nuclear residue and possibly ground-up zombie dust into our open festering wounds of envy.
I think I speak for most people here: I don't want to hear this sort of thing, because it makes me want to hitch my trailer, drive 4500kms to Perth and then another 4500kms back.
It makes me weep.
You now, by concensus of all here, sell some of it to us (read...ME!!!)
