    Default Pivot hinge box

I'm just beginning to finish serveral boxes that I now feel happy with after exploring a number of techniques for joints, finishing and styles.

I am particulalry pleased with my first pivot hinge lid box made from Red Gum and American Oak.

Nice looking box and a great choice of timbers.
    Reality is no background music.

Thanks for the feed back. The box was approx 150mm x 100mm x 50mm which suited the cards well and finish was a coat of danish oil and then wax. I tried lots of different finishes on some sample pieces of about 10 timbers and decided I preferred the results of this over the others I tried...a very enlightning exercise!

The oak was not too difficult to work although I keep finding little nicks and dents which I hadn't noticed before, something to eradicate next time.

That is a tiny box! Good to hear the testing finishes exercise was very useful. I've some american and english oak I'd like to try out at some stage, so it's handy to know about the dents and such.

    Thanks
    Wendy
