Thread: Work in progress - Padauk Box

That looks really nice and I agree with your wife about the tray, just sets it off. The colour is certainly spectacular as I have never worked with Padauk.
What are your thoughts on the oil now you have used it?
Any change of a less compressed photo as the ones you put here only open to a fairly small image so it's hard to get a full appreciation of the end product.
Thankyou for taking us on this journey with you as we can always learn something from others.
Cheers,Dallas

I will try again.

Are these any better?
The oil is fine. Works as advertised. The padauk is a rather open-grained, heavy timber and can be quite splintery where hinge mortises are concerned. Sharp tools are a must and I was most careful about setting the solid brass screws so as not to break any off. I ran a steel screw down the holes first and then lightly coated the brass screws with a chunk of beeswax I have laying around. When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Not sure why you are being limited as no-one else seems to have the problem and you are not a new member with restrictions. Unfortunately the photos are no larger. What happens if you try to attach them at a higher resolution, do they get rejected?
Thanks for all the other info about the oil and timber.Dallas

If I use the paperclip icon and try to insert them inline, the forum is making me shrink them pretty small. I will try something different and see how that works. Sorry for the difficulties.

just because the "preview" is small thankfully means nothing about the version that the forum holds. In the case of the last post, post # 21, the images there are much better and much larger. Keep doing that !

Yes, whatever you did in post 21 worked perfectly. We can get a much better appreciation of the quality of your work with those photos.
