Puzzle Box
This is a puzzle box made from Tasmanian Blackwood and Huon Pine. The original design concept is from a US Box-maker Kagen Schaefer and I have interpreted this basic design so this hobby woodworker could make a puzzle for the grand-kids.
When the lid is in place as shown in the first photographs it cannot be removed.
Somehow every disc requires rotation in the correct sequence, some discs require multiple movements to finally get the puzzle to a stage where the lid can be removed.
Making this was a bit of fun, it all helps to get the grey matter working..

Excellent box! great concept also.
I can see that in the third pic, the bottom most disc is the only one not trapped by the others, so logically that is the starting place?
How many moves does it take to open? The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

Hi Tankstand,
You are right, you do start with the disc you mentioned. If you know what to do, then there are about 48 moves before you get the box open.
Thanks for the comments.
