Rare Messmate for box
Hi folks. I finally got around to making a lidded box out of my gorgeous messmate (stringybark). https://www.woodworkforums.com/f132/stringy-fiddleback-colour-182306
I used to think Stringy was a bit boring, being so common an' all but wow!
I am stunned with every piece I cut up. It just hooks me on wood even more. The piece I put on the lid is Tea Tree. I incorporated the hinge into it. This is my first box from board rather than turned. The next box I make will be for the wife. She was green with the envy.
It was a gift to my eldest daughter. She did love it; which was a bonus.
It's finished with 4 coats of danish oil. Believe it or not it has not been stained, just clear danish.

You are right to say that this is stunning. The design of the piece also enhancers the piece.
