First real Box, For Uncle Bruce
Back in June my uncle passed away suddenly, just a few days before Sydney went into lockdown. I only had a couple of days to get down there to sort some things out, but we couldn't have a funeral. We had him cremated & are finally having his funeral next week, so instead of a coffin I've made a box for the ashes that will be placed on a table at the front of the church.
The box is Brushbox, with a bookmatched lid insert made from some of Maplemans CL stump that I got a few years back. Apart from rough sizing of the timber & sanding, everything was done with hand tools.

The top is fixed to the box and I've made the bottom panel removable, as the ashes will be removed for burial later.

One screw in each of the end strips holds everything in place. After the ashes are removed for burial, I'll fix the base & cut the top off & fit hinges.
