    Default Red Gum Boxes

A friend gave me a piece of his old fence some time ago 100 x 100 x 600 Red Gum post.

I was able to get three boxes from it. the finish is BLO and wax.

Thanks for the kudos Rob, it is satisfying turning fire wood into something of value.

Very nice indeed. That red gum colour is beautiful. Great boxes
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

There is more to it, the first coat mix the BLO 50/50 with turps or shellite for a quicker drying time let this sit on the box for roughly an hour then wipe off ant excess and let dry for 24 hours. Them apply a coat of BLO (no turps or Shellite) let it dry for roughly an hour wipe off any excess and let it dey for 24 hours, do it again, that will give three coats. let it dry for 24 hours and then apply your wax 2-3 coats

    Very nice boxes. Well done!

I get a thrill out of using recycled or salvaged timber as well and it is such a joy to see it turned into something nice like these boxes.

'Tis very satisfying to look at your boxes. Many thanks for showing them.
