How to repair chip out after waxing?
So I thought this small box was finished tonight then noticed some pieces had chipped out just next to a joint. They are relatively small but are on the front face and I think would be quite noticeable to anyone with better eyesight than me ie most people.
Finish is 1 coat of white shellac and Ubeaut traditional wax. If it was bare timber or even just the shellac I could easily fill it but the situation is a bit different with the wax applied.
I could carefully dig the cavities out with a scalpel and then fill/refinish but am wondering if there are any other, possibly better, options.chippedout sassy.JPG
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.Cheers, Bob the labrat

Have you got any wax sticks Bob? I find them good for tiny chips.

Thanks Picko, just did a search fo info on this and it sounds like a good option. Do you recommend any particular brand or are they all likely to be similar?

Thanks Alex, only saw your post after my previous reply. I did see some at Bunnies in the search results so will nip up there today.

I would recommend the shellac filler sticks over the wax ones. The smaller chips would be fine but that larger one is borderline.

Thanks Mark, I will keep that in mind in future. For this box I will use the wax stick because I already applied wax to the shellac and I don't have confidence that shellac on top of the wax would stay in place.
I did pick up some wax sticks today and did a trial on a test piece. It worked quite well so I just need a period when I can apply it to the box without any time pressure.Cheers, Bob the labrat
