Hi Gentlemen, I haven't looked at this site for a bit now, been a bit slack I guess. But just looking now I couldn't help but come across this current thread. For what it's worth here is the link to the drum sander I made and finished off earlier this year. It's now my favourite piece of machinery in my shed. I emailed Pat a couple of times to discuss rpm/pulley sizes etc. Pat was pretty happy with my final product also. https://www.woodworkforums.com/f40/my...sander-164659/ Sorry, this post is a bit lopsided, this site doesn't like IE,........................Paul

If you do go down the thicknesser rought then i would recommend the carbatec one Carba-Tec® 13" Spiral Head Thicknesser : CARBA-TEC
I bought one and it is brilliant and there is almost no need to sand unless you want it altra smooth

I agree with the hand plane idea. Very satisfying.

Hi there Bosox, My thicknessing sander is working brilliantly, love it. Dunno how I survived prior to building it. Between that at my router table that I built (from the plans on the Gifkin site), they are my two favourite tools I own now.

    Regards, Paul
