You should all be proud
You should all be very proud of this achievement because apart Roger Gifkins jig and books all of my inspiration has come from this website to build my second box. You will notice I have used Zen's hinge stop at the rear as a stop just past 90 degrees. I used Danish oil & Ubeaut Tradwax for the finish. I cant quite remember who deserves the credit (but I'm sure I will hear) the felt board in the bottom is cardboard covered with self adhesive felt. Hell, I even learnt how to make my paint brushes last for more than one project right here. You will notice that my hinge rebate skills leave a lot be desired but as I fitted each leave individually as Roger advises I felt that each one was better than the last.
As you can see from my rant I am pretty proud of what I have achieved but as always I have more questions to contribute than answers. Please have a guess at the timbers because I recycled them from an old pallet
And if I may take a quick swipe at those with an axe to grind or fear that the forums are politically incorrect, lets all share these forums for the purpose they were intended. That we may all share our learned skills and life experiences in an atmosphere where you can remain anonomous if you wish, make life long friends if you wish or LEAVE WHEN YOU WISH.
Cheers,

Howdya,
It ain't the guys here that built it, it was you, and you deserve all the credit for the great work you did there.

On your way to fame.............don't forget to tell'em who inspired you! (This forum).
Nice looking box. Looks just the right size for me to throw my keys, wallet and watch in at the end of the day. (no money as SWMBO takes it all)

Congrats Howdya!
It is the BEST feeling when you know you've done well, better than ever, and can recognise the areas you want to work on for next time.
Your box looks brilliant, the felt neat and well-fitting.
What timbers have you used?
Cheers

Excellent box, Howdya. You must have nice pallets up your way. I can't guess at the timbers, but I particularly like the top panel, with its wavy grain patterns. Perfect dovetails too.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Hi Wendy,
No one has guessed yet they came from very old pallets where I work.
Zenwood,
I think the wavy grain has been accentuated by years of weathering because you could see it before I started dressing the boards.
Nice pallets? NO! The very old ones seem to be the best source but then you sometimes only get a few boards. they all seem to be pine now days.Cheers,
Howdya
