Have been using my setup a bit lately making some to tongue and groove joints for for a large drawer base I’m making for my workbench.

Aside from picking up some kreg inserts I’m overall happy with how it cuts and performs with the Jessem rollers in place.

I’ll open up the dust housing from 55mm to support 100mm, if anyone has the ability to do this by making a new connection to my fence with a 3d printer I’d be interested to hear from you.

The immediate modifications I’d recommend for the cabinet is possibly some chamfered or convex lining to fill the gaps in the cabinet so dust can’t escape and a door to keep it contained. Not sure if noise insulation is used within the other cabinets but behind a closed door it seems like a good idea. Can get a little loud.

I’ve got a Y adapter to install 100mm dust from the fence and the below cabinet so this should improve things overall

Just adjust the levelling of the plate insert as it catches slightly on the table. Isn’t really an issue

Although he hasn't commented on this thread, Derek has written fairly extensively on router selection. From memory, he favours the old Elu and its reincarnation under the deWalt brand. IMO, worth searthing the forum and looking at his website. His view are always worthwhile.

Nevertheless, next time I upgrade a router, I will look seriously at Chris Park's opinion.

Thx Graeme, I have read Derek's threads on his router table build.

I'm tempted to have a go at a build similar to Chris Park's CNC / VFD water cooled spindle but I don't think I can justify the expense given the router table setup is ancillary to my main interest - wood turning.

Delbs, have a look at the Carbatec website. I went through the same with mine. I used a 4"-2.25" reducer connected to the table with a 2.5" rubber dust collar.

Thanks mate, I was thinking of modifying the existing adapter to have 100mm directly at the source or 3d print one. If not yeah I’ll look at reducing it.

    Cheers

I recently built a timber bench down one side of my shed (limited for room because two cars live in the space overnight). I built a basic router table into one end of the bench, using an old Ryobi plunge router that I have and a Supercheap Autos standard router lifting device. Works well for me (I have since built a better fence for this). I make pen cases and other small boxes etc using this table. I also have a Makita trim router and a Bosch plunge router for other jobs.
