Routered Boxes
Two box designs I have been making for years and have also introduced them to my Blind clients over the years. Gives us the opportunity to use up some of the off-cuts we have lying about. There is a need to know a little about the use of the template guides. When first published in a couple of wood magazines a few years ago the method of construction was changed to complete the projects with the router in the plunge mode. Only the router was used with a few pieces trimmed with the bandsaw before trimming the outside edge.

Andrew
My days of teaching are over That is in a class situation) I did run a 'School of Routing' for a number of years as well as attend most wood shows giving demonstrations on 'How to get more from your router' Spending more time writing about the various projects and still working out new ideas with the router.

Nice work Tom.
I would be interested in learning more about this technique. Any chance of WIP photos showing the various steps making the boxes?
Regards
Rob

Very nice boxes. I would love to see a tutorial posted here on how to get started. Please?

Tom very nice in deed
Maybe you should direct those wanting more info to your Blog posts
or search for Template Tom's posts
I do have a question regarding "your clients statement" you say this each time are these people who buy them or people who use the templates Tom.

Thany you for your comments
Yes it does require a learning process to complete the templates also you must have access to a collection of Guides. Well at least three to start with 16mm 30mm and 40mm would be good. The templates constructed are mainly female templates. It will also introduce a greater range of cutters that can be used.

Ray thank you for your advice re the blog I will endeavour to try and get others to look at them.
"Your clients statement"
They were I suppose my students but I referred to them as clients who came to my woodwork classes. I was working as a volunteer for a few years then was asked to take over the class. Ages of the clients were from 39-82years. and most of them had never used a router before. So it was a big challenge for me (as an ex woodwork teacher in high schools for 30 years and with 20 years experience in the woodworking industry I thought I had a chance,) They did enjoy the challenge I set for them and they were so delighted to take home their produce. To me it was a most rewarding experience to introduce the router to them. I still pop in now and again to see how they are progressing though I am sorry to see the router is not in use.
It has to be made quite clear that I produced all the templates for them except on one occasion when one of the clients said 'How are the templates made' so we set about making the templates step by step under my guidance. I suppose they had a better understanding of the templates doing that exercise.
I will try to post a series of pics of some of the wip.
